The purpose of this project is to encourage critical understanding of current labor/employment relations and ethical issues; and how they fit into the Saudi Arabia context. It promotes academic and general research and writing skills.

–          It’s a group project of 3 girls, worth 30% of our final grade.

–          This project must include 5-10 questions for interview ( 20 staff non managerial)

 

In this project our group will research, identify, and analyze the issue relating to our class studies in labor relations and ethics in the workplace. Specially, we are required to:

 

1-     Approach an actual organization ( we have chosen Starbucks!). Direct contact can be via email, telephone conference or personal contact.

2-     Prior to approaching the organization, our group will agree upon:

a)     An assumption or theory about labor relation/ethics and how this is reflected and addressed in the organization (starbucks)

b)     A Labor relations/ethical “question” that you wish to explore in an actual organization.

3-     Approach the organization to learn and understand what key labor relations and ethical issues the organization is grappling with; how that organization (Starbucks) is addressing the particular questions or assumptions our group has determined; what are the organization’s best practice in this particular area.

4-     Our group will have to analyze the information we acquire from the organization.

The report will reflect class content and include the following:

1-     General overview of the organization

2-     The assumptions/theory and question to be explored.

3-     What the organization is doing to address this issue if at all.

4-     Analyze this against your question/assumption/theory.

5-     Identify “best practices” in other areas regarding labor relations and ethical issues and why you believe this is the case.

6-     Provide an example from actual organization life to illustrate.

7-     Provide a conclusion, which is an overview of your assumption/theory/question and themes. It should include implication for the future. Do NOT use direct quotes from organizational members in your paper.

8-     A reference list is necessary which will include all references that support your analysis.

 

 

This project should consist of 15 pages, excluding references.
